RLC Bomb Disposal at Nottingham's Victoria Centre

On Sunday we were in Nottingham celebrating my birthday from the previous day. My daughter Claire took us out for Sunday lunch.

At about 11.30 am Nottingham's premier shopping centre mall was evacuated after a suspect package was found in the Victoria Centre.

Staff and customers were kept out of the building for over 5 hours as the bomb disposal team were called in to make a controlled explosion of the said suspect package (a suitcase containing clothes and electrical items).

This scene shows the police "do not cross" markers with two police officers and a member of the "intu Victoria Centre" staff keeping the public behind the lines. I think the "intu Victoria Centre" worker has drawn the short straw as it seems a little unfair to ask staff to mange the public in a situation like this.

Good capture of a possibly serious moment. Hope you had a long lens too for this one!

@jennywren thanks Jen, the bizzare thing was you could walk right up to the "Police do not cross line". I asked the police lady whether it was a 'drill' bur she assured me it wasn't !

The lady police looks very cute. You should have asked to take her portrait for your one hundred strangers series. Seriously, so much disruption occurs when you have these bomb scares (hope this was only a scare). Great capture to show us the situation outside the shopping centre.

We saw this on the news ,,, the flat dwellers were more than a little concerned that they hadn't been evacuated. Good street shot.
