Hattie The Saluki by phil_howcroft

Hattie The Saluki

I went to Bolton today to visit my mum and watch the Wanderers. I took her some shopping, did some gardening for her , had a natter , cooked some dinner and then went off to the football.

While digging the garden over my Mum's neighbour Carol, from across the road pulled up in her car. Carol "dog sits" and had one of her regular visitors Hattie.

Hattie is a Saluki, but she may also have a bit of Lurcher in her too. Knowing I like dogs, my Mum asked Carol if she would bring Hattie to see me.

Carols grandson brought Hattie across the road to see me. As you can see she is very beautiful.

Google / Wikepedia describes them as "The Persian Greyhound, a dog breed originating in the Fertile Crescent and Persia. The Saluki is classed as a sighthound and is typically deep-chested and long-legged. Salukis tend to be independent animals requiring patient training and are gentle and affectionate with their owners"

Hattie was certainly gentle, quite aloof and as you can see from her eyes, very soulful.

I showed Hattie's pictures to my wife and she said "Awwwww", I showed Hattie's pictures to my Whippet and I think she said "Yes OK Awwwww , but not as cute as me !!!!!"

I decided to post Hattie in mono as, the mono tones stripped out the distracting elements of a green bush and red brick wall and showed Hattie;s elegance

As for the football, a dire 0-0, but somehow we still sit 3rd in the league.

The journey home wasn't much fun with the M62 being closed near the junction with the M1, which meant I had to make a "best guess" decision to divert onto the M621 and skirt around Leeds (a good decision actually)

Edited in rawtherapee utilising tone mapping and wavelets to produce some nice textures

Wonderful capture, yep Ruby's right not as gorgeous and cute :-)
