My third stranger from Nottingham Pride
I saw Jess in the middle of Hockley talking to a young transgender woman who had amazing hair.
I introduced myself to them both and told them about my 100 strangers project. Jess's friend let me take some pictures of her, but asked that I didn't post them online.
Jess had heard of 100 strangers, but thought I was somebody else. There is an Nottingham based American photographer doing 100 Nottingham Strangers. There is a story about how I somehow managed to get him some publicity in the local press, but it is a long story ! Anyway, I told Jess, I wasn't him and Jess agreed to be a stranger.
Hockley was really busy and there wasn't an ideal none cluttered background. I opted for a shop window, with some nice dresses. I've include the "Party" writing and dress from the shop window as Pride is one big Party and the pink and blues in the window match Jess's outfit and eyes.
Jess is a part time youth worker offering support to young LGBT people.
I took quite a few shots of Jess and I like this one as Jess's eyes are pin sharp and look good.
After I'd photographed Jess, I offered to take some pictures of Jess and her friend, stating I would respect her friends privacy and email the pictures to Jess when she contacts (I gave her one of my cards)
Jess makes a great stranger picture. Initially I thought I'd got six strangers from Pride, but having reviewed the images on my laptop, I am not too sure if one of the images is "good enough" to be in the 100. When I say good enough, I mean technically good enough. This image of Jess i a stunning portrait of her :)
This picture is number 94 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page
