Jess In Mono by phil_howcroft

Jess In Mono

This is Jess who was stranger 94 in my 100 strangers project.

I met her in July at Nottingham Pride. This is an alternate shot of her from Pride and converted to mono via Darktable and GIMP.

I'd just done some shots on Broadway and I'd set my aperture at f1.8 and forgot to shut it down a bit, but the f1.8 has created a really striking image of Jess with a lovely bokeh background of the shop window she is stood in front of.

Jess has amazing eyes, which I hope comes across in this shot.
Some photos just make you stop and look this is one of them, great

Like the contrastiness (yes, it is a word : I just made it up O:-) ) of the tones in this. And yes, those eyes are quite mesmerising.

I fully agree with you about the eyes, Phil. It is a fabulous portrait capture and perfect for b&w. Fav.

The focus on her striking eyes is very effective, Phil. Super portrait.

I do really really like the colour shot of Jess - it could well be down to the purple lipstick! (How boring I am!!!)
