Single Poppy (Helios 44m-4 58mm Vintage lens) by phil_howcroft

Single Poppy (Helios 44m-4 58mm Vintage lens)

Another Poppy picture to follow yesterdays backlit poppies.

This is part of the same poppy plant, shot when the sun had gone from that bit of the garden.

The background is a white hebe , which sort o works as the greens and whites really showcase the beauty of this single poppy stem and petals

Shot with a Helios-44M-4 58mm f2 vintage lens on my Sony A6000

I was wondering if I should have done a square crop
I think this photo being a little bit off balance is just beautiful! Well shot! fav

Beautiful ! - love the pop of gentle red against the grey and white of the hebes !

the poppy is beautifully show cased. I think a square crop would have worked well.

I like the balance of the picture with the poppy off centre

I think I would have veered towards a square crop too. Beautiful detail on those hairy stems.

It is a lovely shot. I might have done a square crop. I do them a lot for flowers. You maybe could have the poppy stalk on a diagonal in 1:1......
