I went to Nottingham this morning to photograph the Green Hustle Festival, that was taking place in and around Sneinton market, just outside the city centre. I took my little whippet Ruby with me as she is often an ice breaker for stranger shots. In fact Ruby used her ice breaking skills for my meet with Corinne.
Corrine was on a market stall at the vegan market (which was part of the Hustle) and saw Ruby and told me how lovely she was. We then struck up a conversation about dogs, particularly rescue dogs and the ice was broken. I then had a chat about the stall Corinne and her husband, Hugh, were running. They are a small independent vegan deli, selling vegan wheat meats, Seitan plant based "meat"
I then asked both Corinne and Hugh if they would consider being part of my strangers project. Both said “Yes” and I asked them if I could shoot them individually, up against a graffiti wall, which was in the shade rather than underneath the canopy of their stall.
I shot Corinne first, while shooting Corinne, I discovered the business is Hugh’s and she was helping him as she was a dog groomer and ran her own dog grooming business from home. I then understood why she loved my little Ruby so much as Corinne is a “dog person”
I rattled a few shots of Corinne against the wall. I was a little worried it was too dark by the wall, but as you can see the location created a great backdrop and the light was fabulous.
Thanks for being stranger 261 Corinne, it was lovely to meet you.
Corinne’s husband is going to be stranger 263.
Oh and the name Corinne, I told Corinne, I knew it was a French name and asked did she have a French heritage. Corinne laughed and said her Dad fancied a French actress named Corinne, from television back in the day and named her after her. I am not too sure of the actresses name, perhaps Corinne Calvet (google her !)

My heart did a little flutter when I read your words, "shoot them against a wall" - but not seriously! She has a coldness in her eyes but a good smile!
