I’m posting two photos of Michelle, a portrait shot and a shot of her stood in front of 15 Weekday Cross. Read on to find out why Michelle gets two photos.
I met Michelle when she was taking a photo of a building on her mobile phone.
“Hi what’s the significance of the building I asked”
“Well actually, I’ve just realised it’s the wrong building, this is 15 High Pavement, and I’m meant to be photographing 15 Weekday Cross, there is a story as to why I am photographing it. My parents are involved in the Nottinghamshire Badminton Association, who celebrate their centenary this year. The Association was founded at 15 Weekday Cross, I believe it’s a nightclub now. I’m taking some photos for my parents. What about you, are you local?” (Michelle had seen my camera around my story).
“Yes, I do street photography, I photograph strangers for my project, I’ve shot over 370 to date. I could take your photo alongside the building, if that’s OK”
“Yes that sounds like a good idea”
So we cross the road and walk to Weekday Cross and I take some portrait shots and then wide angle shots of the iconic building.
While we were chatting I asked if Michelle’s parents were founder members of the Association ! That was a rather stupid question as it would mean her parents would be 120+ years old !
Eagle eyed among you may recognise the building and the fancy door, as both have featured on my photostream.
We exchanged contact details and I wished Michelle a good afternoon.
Your “stupid” question reminded me of a comment I read in the online newspaper recently. A woman was doing some yard work around her home when I passerby stopped to admire it. The visitor asked about the history of the house, and the woman proudly said it was over 200 years old. “How wonderful!” the visitor exclaimed, “And are you the original owner?”
Beautiful portrait shot of Michelle, Phil. Her gorgeous smile is enchanting. I like the colours of the door, though if I see them here I would laugh at the door. Fav.
