Carole just said, “is that a pink moon” and I remembered i’d read something today about the July full moon possibly being pink. It’s actually going to be ‘full’ tomorrow, but it’s also forecast to rain so here’s one I prepared earlier ……….

It is nicknamed the pink moon, but it isn't for the colour. It was named after pink moss that blooms at the right moment. When you get it red or pink like this, you have caught it low to the horizon and see it through the dust of the atmosphere. As it gets higher after moonrise, the colour changes to white. (I am a bit of a passionate astronomer!) I love these early rise captures, so (literally) atmospheric!
