Took the grandchildren to Woodside Wildlife Park today; they have a huge variety of animals on show (they used to have Tango, the Lion from theESSO Oil advertisements, but he died a year or so ago leaving just another Tiger rescued from a circus) but this beautifull owl caught my eye, sittling motionless just watching everything and everybody walking by.
Love it! There's something about owls - they are so silent in motion and from a distance look like a statue when they are motionless. I actually thought that once - we were helping my sister clean up her house and she had a fake, plastic owl that didn't do anything to keep the ground squirrels and other rodents away. We had discussed it and it was supposed to be thrown out. Later I was walking by and thought I saw it on top of the outdoor water pipe, sticking up from the ground. I couldn't imagine why anyone would stick that stupid plastic statue there - and then the "statue" turned it's head around. It was a REAL Great Grey Owl.
