Garden Visitor - Long-Tailed Tit

Yup, I'm home so no macro shot of a single flower from the bunch I bought at the begining of the week; so I'm afraid it's a bird .............................................

Don't know whether it was a change of fat balls earlier this morning, but I have never seen a long-tailed tit in my garden before today; I've been looking at the wonderful photographs of them by another member of 365Project ( @shepherdmanswife ) in Leicestershire and wondering why I didn't have any here in Lincolnshire and here one is.

They don't stay still for long, they flit from here to there so fast. They appear far more nervous than the Great and Blue that are common visitors to our garden.

Just the bearded tit to pay us a visit and that'll be the complete set of tits that are found in a UK garden.

The long-tailed tit or long-tailed bushtit is a common bird found throughout Europe and Asia. The genus name Aegithalos was a term used by Aristotle for some European tits, including the long-tailed tit.

When we have Long Tail Tits visit the garden, they usually come as a mob !! I think they usually nest together at night for warmth. Usually there are seven or eight at a time.

@brennieb Thanks Brenda
@susiemc They are beautiful. Possibly the best looking of the family
@boatman137 My wife got home about an hour after I posted the photograph and there were 4 of them in the garden. The one I photographed and posted must have been an advance party 😂

Well captured Phil. It's so nice when they arrive. They always seem to be in a group and don't stay for long.
