@carole_sandford bought me this when I was promoted to Sergeant back in 1989 and permitted to enter the hallowed halls of the Warrant Officer's & Sergeant's Mess.
The Mess Dress we wore, at formal dinners, was a bright scarlet jacket, black trousers with a scarlet stripe down the outside of the legs and a black waistcoat. Gold insignia, and badges of rank accentuated the look. (In later years, my Mess Dress included 'boots & spurs' but that's another story) All of us had pocket watches, and this is mine.
