Beastie by phil_sandford

Beastie

Saw 'this' crawling all over the thistle this afternoon, had no clue what it was. A butterfly of some kind obviously. (No idea what that is crawling 'underneath' the thistle)

It's not. It's a moth. It's called a Five Spot Burnett and it's definitely a moth (Google is our friend (other online search engines are available))

He kind of destroys the myth that I had, that all moths are colourless, drab and boring.

He's really rather beautiful.
Nice shot. Used to see loads of these when I was a kid but nowhere near as much nowadays.

Very pretty. I don't think I've ever seen a colorful moth. So, the myth is definitely destroyed.

You have quite a keen eye to spot that. And two bugs for the price of one. I hope you won't be charging us double. But I suppose you will. ;-)
