Over the weekend, I wandered out after dinner one evening armed only with the 6D and a tripod. Took a stroll around the harbour of Mevagissey hoping to replicate some of the photographs that adorn the B&B we were staying at (all taken by our landlady with her 5D).
Primary illumination was the lighthouse, other than that, no lights and pitch black; whereas my mark one issue eyeball could make out the boats in the harbour, particularly when the lighthouse lit up, I just couldn't focus the camera; got some really good shots of the boats, the line of light from the lighthouse across the water, but each and every one of them was out of focus (need to practice this methinks)
Walking back, I set up to get the village across the harbour. A tad more light available to focus and, well, here you go, this is the end result (which is also a tad out of focus).
Have you tried using manual focus Phil. Switch to live view and turn auto focus off and you cam zoom right into your subject on screen (your focal length doesn't change) I use manual made and over exposure my subject, get my focus and then properly expose my image. Hope they makes sense mate 😉😉
Well done!
@paul10 Mate, thank you. I understand exactly what you're saying and will give it a go next time. Thanks buddy
