Lincoln Cathedral by phil_sandford

Lincoln Cathedral

Another for the ‘Flash of Red’ February challenge.

This week sees the flashofred2018 challenge move to the 'rule of thirds to tell a story.'

Spent longer than I thought this morning doing 'stuff' and then even longer at the car dealers than we'd both planned (my car is poorly again) and I went in to get figures for replacing it.

We had intended to go down to Rutland Water or Belton House, but time kind of caught us out, so we headed home, but via the Bailgate in Lincoln for some photos of the cathedral (which recently won the World Cup of Cathedral competition on Twitter)

B&W lends itself well to buildings. Good detail here.

I think I prefer this shot to the castle one - I find that your exposure is better with this shot, But then - the castle was dark and foreboding which really sets the mood of a castle though.

I love Lincoln. Our first posting when we got married back when Noah was a lad was at Scampton, so I know my way round Lincoln very well.
