With the fantastic weather we've been having so far, the harvest is about 2 or 3 weeks early; the yield is low (the corn is quite short) but it's ready for bringing in. Hence, at the moment, Lincolnshire's roads are awash with what I describe as the 1st Lincs Mechanised Armoured Agricultural Division Vehicles in the way of Combine Harvesters, Tractors, Bailers and assorted support vehicles. Personally, a bit like Jeremy Clarkson and his views on caravans, these shoud only be allowed to travel on public roads between the hours of 0100 and 0200. 🤣
If we had travelled another 5 miles or so, the bales would have been square; I'm guessing it's all down to the farmer's preference, or equipment availabe as to whether it's a square or round bale of hay?
Thank you for your views, comments and favs on yesterday’s offering taking it to the TP & PP. Much appreciated.
We seem to have a lot of square bales round us mate. They're just not as pleasing on the eye as the round ones are which is why I was so chuffed to come across the rounded ones in the week (which I posted on Wednesday) A lovely shot mate, lovely golden tones :-)
Beautiful golden hour photo of the bales. I do love to see them in the fiekds. The small ones just do not have the same photographic magic. However it seems the smaller ones would be easier to handle. I'm sure they each have their reasons for the size they choose.
