The lavender in the front beds are the ones that thrive in my garden, mostly from neglect; I don’t water them specially, they might get dripped on from the hanging baskets, but what water they get they get from rainfall, yet every year they come back fuller and fuller and the bees love them.
This morning, all of the flowers in the front beds are buzzing with bees; a mixed variety (the names of which I don’t know) but given the reports that you read that our bee population is being decimated due to global warming, use of pesticides etc, I always make an effort to plant flowers that bees and butterflys like. I’m not sure I’m allowed to keep bees, would need to check the deeds of my property as I’d quite like to (it would freak the hell out of my granddaughters (and wife possibly) but my working life wouldn’t allow it (as it doesn’t allow me to have a dog either))
I spent some time with the macro lens waiting for a bee to alight on one of the lavender flowers and in the end wasn’t disappointed.
Doubt I would have that kind of patience
