Centenary by phil_sandford

Centenary

As many of you will know, I served 24 years in the British Army, the entire time of which I was in the Royal Corps of Signals. The Signals celebrated their Centenary this year, and sadly much of what was planned to celebrate that achievement had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. One thing not cancelled, delayed yes but not cancelled, was the commsioning of a Centenary Celebration Watch made by Elliot Brown.

There were 2 designs to choose from and only if sufficient interest was shown in the Spring would they move to orders and manufacturing. Needless to say, sufficient interest was there and the watches were ordered and the process moved to manufacture. Covid-19 delayed the original planned issue for the Summer, but they began to be sent out last week.

Here's mine, it arrived yesterday morning. The Morse Code, from 1 through to 11 (omitting 3 and 9 as that displays the Corps' TRF (Tactical Recognition Flash)) spells out the Corps motto, Certa Cito (Swift & Sure). The date on the 20th day is coloured yellow (all others are white) signifying 20 in 1920 and 2020.

I also have my Regimental Number, my Rank on discharge (WO1), my full name and dates that I served, June 1981 to June 2005, engraved on the rear.

Thank you for your continued engagement in my offerings
What a superb, fitting design for you all. Great shot too, watches are tricky.
