Groom coming to pick up the bride: Đón dâu. by phplananh

Groom coming to pick up the bride: Đón dâu.

We have been to quite a few weddings over our time in Vietnam and I prefer the more tradtional type, which take place outside people's houses and involves the groom going to pick up his bride from her home and taking her back to his hometown, where the wedding takes place.
I hesitated a long time before posting this picture. I wanted to choose just one but there was such a story to tell, that I finally decided to make a collage.
At 8:30am we arrived at the bride's house, which had this 'tent' outside, in which the bride's family had been celebrating last night. Now they were waiting for the groom and his family to arrive. The bus with his relatives arrived at about 9am and they made a procession and filed in, one by one. The groom was last and he was carrying a bouquet of flowers to give to his bride.
When I was in Hanoi there Where weddings everywhere, the Citadel seemed a very popular venue.
