Wild weather

Well! On this day, my home State of Victoria experienced just about every freaky weather event that could be imagined. From a major duststorm in the NorthWest where the streets of Mildura turned a vivid orange - and it’s only November! to gale force winds, a thunderstorm, a Code Red day declared for various areas indicating an extreme risk of fires, a Thunderstorm Asthma warning given and strange hues in the sky from dust with fierce winds causing fallen trees - you name it we just about had it all. If I’d heard about hail, snow and a mini tornado this would have completed the picture pretty much.
When I walked out of work to walk towards Footscray Station, the sky had colour I had never seen before - an orange/peach/pink tone interspersed with vivid white/grey clouds. I tried to capture this with some photos, but my phone just wasn’t up to the task of highlighting the strange brilliance of it all. There’s some amazing images on various social media sites.
Having grown up in the Mallee, I’m used to duststorms, but to see this type of sky in Melbourne was something else.

Thoughts to all impacted by the droughts and fires wreaking havoc and heartache in many parts of Australia.

This photo is filling a gap in my album and was taken on Thursday, 21 November 2019.
