Treasure

Found this folding pocket No 3 Autographic Kodak Model 6 in a box of old cameras in my dad's garage at the weekend. Google informs me it was on the market between 1914 and 1926, cost £41 and had 118 roll-film. The wood body is covered with Morocco leather. My dad, who was always a keen photographer but never mastered the move to digital, is fading into dementia, but I hope that he'll still be able to tell me the history of this beautiful object.
Beautiful image and how lucky are you to find it , well done your Dad to look after it...

My husband had vascular dementia. You never know what they will remember and what is lost forever. Often the oldest memories are the best so I will keep my fingers crossed. The lovely old camera is captured beautifully here in high key with no distractions.

I have a very similar model. They are just amazing. Very steampunk in a way.

I even shot a roll of film in mine and it still works and takes decent photos. :)

Great camera! I hope your father will remember some things about it. Bring a tape recorder when you talk about it with him.

Thanks for the Follow, Claire.....you have some wonderful photos, and a very keen eye.....following right back (well, it took me a while....) BTW, I really, really loved your photo with the door that went nowhere with the rusty platform that was in the running for the 6-word story... so many incongruities in it, and a wonderful composition....

@baznman Guess I might though whether I'd know what do with the film is another matter :)
@joansmor I'm sorry to hear about your husband. It is a tough illness for a loved one to suffer. He's staying near us for the next few weeks so I may get the story
@swillinbillyflynn Have happily added steampunk to my vocab - thank you :)
@panthora Thanks so much - thrilled with your comments on my work when I am so impressed with yours :)

Lovely relic of the age. Never tire of seeing old (real!) cameras in today's age of digital magic buttons
