these two

j and her dad r, shot in r's garden this afternoon between the showers with my velvet 56. both special characters

j is three months younger than me and our parents were friends before we were born. at eighty-two, r is doing pretty well six years after a major stroke. the docs suggested he might consider reducing his forty-a-day habit and he stopped overnight
Wonderful lighting and a lovely portrait. Fav.

Great portrait. They certainly "pop out" and you feel like being close in a way.

Great double portrait! Not easy to achieve at all!

Excellent portrait and bravo to r! Cold turkey is not easy to do from what I understand. This is also a great example of how black and white really is about the subject/people as opposed to a color shot. You get such a sense of personality on both of them.

I like the use of a black background: the faces - and characters - really stand out.

thanks so much to you for the compliments and favs. i'm really glad you liked it, and so appreciate you taking the time to comment. i took the picture under a big tree and when i converted to b&w most of the leaves melted away, and i helped the remaining few to disappear ...

Superb portrait and you have the Velvet 56 stopped down just enough to avoid the gimmicky effect when it is wide open.
