piazza by pistache

piazza

piazza, in charleston terms: a covered open porch or veranda supported by columns or pillars and attached to the outside of a building. most have two stories and face south or west along the side of the building, at right-angles to the street. most are stunningly gorgeous, like the whole city! i took this on a fabulous tour of a historic building. the long bench with the curved seat on the left was a joggling board, designed for courting. we rented bikes and tootled round the ravishing streets getting our fill this afternoon. we leave tomorrow and i am going to struggle to tear myself away from the warmth, sunshine and most beautiful architecture down every street
Charleston is so beautiful, this is a gorgeous capture. I’m so glad you are there. If you haven’t seen Middleton Place, a historic rice plantation with incredible gardens, it’s worth a look!

There is nothing like a sun porch on a southern home- they are built for enjoying the weather and having a good chat. Beautiful!

A joggling board!! :) How utterly wonderful. Love how it "slides" the courting youngsters towards each other.
