the kiss in the sky by pistache

the kiss in the sky

thank you so much to everyone who commented so supportively on my floating bed image. i was blown away by your generosity and so glad i dared to post it!

i saw these vapour trails (so rare to see now, aren't they?) as we drove to the local market town to buy some fruit & veg. i always notice these trails because of my father. as i may have said before on here, he had no faith and didn't want a religious send-off, but just after he died i found a little note that he'd written at some point. in it he said, as a lifelong fan of planes and aviation, that we might simply like to think of him each time we saw a vapour trail, or an old-fashioned aeroplane, as 'a bit of my heart will be up there seeing you'. as you might imagine, this set us off at the time, and i couldn't re-read those words for a while without tears, but in the years since he died (three and a half), those glimpses in the sky have been a real comfort, especially what i see as the kisses
May I be the first to fav!!? This is very Athena-ish from my student days!!!

What a lovely anecdote - and how special to find a note from your father like this. The composite - and your version of The Kiss - is simply delightful.

@jgpittenger thank you jane for your take on this image - it's always so interesting to hear what doesn't work for people. i guess i wanted to add a bit of magic, but was concerned that it looked like a rocket was launching under my skirt, which would not have been the look i was going for ...
