rocket launch

out in the cotswold hills on the most glorious day. blue skies, sunshine, a real feeling of spring in the air. shot this with my least favourite lens, my 17mm wide angle, with which i continue not to fall in love! quite liked the slightly odd square of forest in the middle. the vapour trail reminds me of my dear dad, who was so keen on aeroplanes, and told me that maybe i would think of him, when i saw one in the sky. so that is what i do :) best on black, dear viewers
Such a striking B&W! Love the plane's line!

Great b&w capture. My 17mm wide angle objective with Olympus is my best set! I use it for close-up shots and shallow depth of field. I like its pov.

A lovely story about your dad:)

Great choice of black and white here. The trail would be white anyway. What a nice thought!

This is a grand scene. I love your father’s idea about the con trails in the sky.

how lovely - you must have so many opportunities to be reminded of your Dad. Keep looking up! Quite an unusual scene somehow, but very strong compositional elements keeps me looking at it.

As with people, there are some lenses that just rub us the wrong way. If we have to work with them we can be polite but we may never develope the kind of warm relationship that makes the work much fun.

Sweet memory of your dad - so true about some lenses

Think you may be a little hard on self and lens.

thank you for your kind thoughts about this lens and image :) i don't blame the lens - i believe any shortcomings are operator error - probably just need to use it much more and get used to its length ;)
