The Green Room by pixelchix

The Green Room

I've spent a couple hours pulling my hair out today trying to create a video in Premiere Elements 9. I'm very good with programs, and computer stuff in general, but dang I'm feeling pretty daft here. I may just go back to the freebie Windows Movie Maker until I can find the time to do some tutorials.

This shot is from our shoot at the Pismo Pier on Sunday. You'll see it in the video I'm working on. Eventually. :-)

Peace my fellow 365ers.
WOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh boy I miss the sea.. Awesome!

Wow- the colour, action, the wetness of his wet suit - a brilliant shot.

Sorry for the frustrations. We just have something to look forward to.

Great action shot. Wow that water must be COLD!
February 9th, 2011
Woo hoooo!!!

I agree, the color, wetsuit and action are so bang on. Your angle to capture it this way is nothing short of amazing!

@deniseescovino Thanks Denise! It's pretty awesome living only a few blocks away.

@looseimages Thanks Lucy! Surfing is a blast, both photographing and doing it! I was an avid surfer for many years, but now mostly just photograph others.

@matejaseliskar The weather's been fantastic these past few weeks. Are you in the bay area now? I forget.

@liipgloss Thanks so much Brenda. Our water isn't really that color naturally....a bit of artistic license here. ;-)

@miranda Hi Miranda! Thank you kindly!

@stepheesue Thanks Stephanie. Hang in there with PS. It's such an awesome program once you get into it.

@chamrick Thank you Christine. Yes, our water is quite cold...in the mid 50's now.

@semrants Hey there Sarah. I cheated...we shot from the pier so we were able to get some pretty nice angles and close up shots too.

@aikiuser Why thank you miss Jenn!

February 9th, 2011
Very nice.
February 9th, 2011
Another really nice shot, Heather. And I do love the framing -- am I going to be able to do that once my 'shop comes in?
February 9th, 2011
First, this shot is amazing. second, don't give up. You can get it, you just need to start basic. Im excited to see what you have coooking!

@aikimomm Thank you Phoebe! Yes! With Photoshop you will be able to work with different layers and blending modes which is how I make these frames. I also add shadows, etc to give them more dimension. We need some teaching time! A trip to NM for us, or a trip to Cali for you is in order!
February 9th, 2011
wow the water looks amazing., great capture here. good luck with the film..
February 9th, 2011
@bobg Thank you Bob! I use different texture layers in PS to create these frames. It's fun!

@onefree1isme Hiya Nancy. Thank you!

@monicar Thanks Monica!

@crappysailor Thanks for the encouragement Anthony! I've made a few videos with Windows Movie Maker and I really enjoyed it enough to know I wanted more powerful software. Premiere Elements is proving to be very un-intuitive! I'll get it eventually though. ;-/
February 9th, 2011
great shot. hubby's a surfer so appreciate how difficult this is to catch (image & wave :) Premiers powerful but yes, unintuitive. Pro Show gold better than Movie Maker but not as powerful as Prem. Good luck!

Hang in there. Those programs are made to see how bald they can make you.
February 9th, 2011
What a cool surfer shot, great edit on this! Can't wait to see what you're working on - hang in there! :)
February 9th, 2011

Awesome capture Heather! The color and clarity of this shot is amazing....I would imagine these surfer shots are tough to get but you really excel at it!

February 10th, 2011
Awesomeness . . .
February 10th, 2011
AMazing shot x
February 11th, 2011
This should be in Sports Illustrated!! Look at those incredible colors, and the clarity of the surfer and the water. It's amazing!! I am in awe that you're trying to make videos on Elements 9. I have been studying on my own just to learn the photo editing part of it, and I feel like an idiot. I'm half way through the Elements 9 book for dummies. I think I'm going to have to take a class. Ugh!
February 12th, 2011
