I'm in the process of making another little video, and re-discovered this one I made from our summer vacation. It has a couple other fellow 365ers in it, my partner Jenn (@aikiuser) and her cousin Cary (@cary). Thought maybe some of you might enjoy seeing it. (Warning, this puppy is long, nearly 6 minutes and may bore ya'all, but I thought I'd share it anyways.) ;-)
It was my first attempt at video editing.....a lot of the video was shot from a kayak or moving car, so sorry for the jiggles....
We had a blast camping, canoeing, and hanging with friends. Pictures and videos taken on location in the Tehachapi Mtns, North Lake, Mono Lake, South Lake, Benton, Pine Creek, Bishop Creek, Fish Slough Petroglyphs, the wild horses of Adobe Valley, and various spots along the Owens Valley.
I watched it in its entirety and was impressed. The mountains and lakes are beautiful. You edited nicely.Good job.Looks like a great vacation. Where are the Tehachapi Mountains?
Ok, so three pics that stood out , the doggy on the blue chair. the doggy licking J's face,(ugh) and the B/W of the horses. so rock.
The whole film is just wonderful. The music rocks too.
Thanks for sharing this amazing part of this wonderful country...
Avery and I are going to LA in April but we will be seeing Ducks and mice and dogs, wish we were seeing this instead.
Not bored at all. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Looks like the doggies had a blast too. The photos you captured of the horses ( well, all of the photos really) amazing. You did a great job. Thank you for sharing.
six minutes wasn't long at all...it was peaceful and fun to watch...gave me a feel for the vacation and the good community y'all share! Including the dogs!
@semrants Thank you Sarah. The Eastern Sierra (and the desert below) is my favorite place ever. I would love to live there someday....
@bpizzo Cool! Thank you very much Barbara, and glad to meet you! The Tehachapi Mtns pick up about where the Southern most tip of the Sierras end, but they are a transverse range that roughly separates the San Jouquin Valley and the Mojave Desert. The ridges are dotted with hundreds of wind turbines, and in the spring it often has an amazing wildflower display amongst its amazing oak woodlands.
@jwresa Hi Joni. Thank you! Those horses are a large wild herd found in the Adobe Valley (mostly Mustangs). It took us a long time to get that close...inching our tripods every closer over about an hour, all the time making sure we weren't upsetting the herd. We see them almost every time we go there, but never that close before!
@jtresearch Hi Janina. So glad you enjoyed it. I'd never had a video capable camera before then, and this was my first foray into compiling one. I loved it, and want to do more.
@pixelchix . lol I have no idea where those areas are. We will be going to Diseny. yes I know, polluting my poor babies brain.... if your area is close to Anaheim , I could do a day trip to meet up with up somewhere..
@nikkers We are basically right in-between LA and SF, right off of the 101 freeway. Are you guys flying or driving? I'm guessing we're a good 3 1/2 hours north of Disney Land.
@corymbia Thank you s much Amanda. When I see all of those amazing oz pictures, I think the same thing of you folks! This area is actually about a 6 hour drive from where we live.
Loved it - was mostly in that area last August with my brother. We want to go back again as so much to explore. We camped at Mammoth Lakes (saw the bears here) went to Mono Lake where to took photos and visited the ghost town Bodie. The horses and the petrogylphs we have not seen. Wonderful adventurous video of you, friends and dogs! Love it!
Definitely not bored one bit - that was fabulous! I love the combination of video and panning over still shots, and I am with you @nikkers - I loved those 3 shots too!! You've done such a wonderful job Heather... I can see why you love it up in that area. High fives to you :)
Wonderful - I watched it twice!! It just looked sooooo happy for you, your friends and your doggies. I love the open roadness of it and there were some favourite stills, pretty much as identified (including my fav B&W horses), but I also loved the pic of mountains in the distance with yellow flowers in the foreground, and the two horses face on. Beautiful.
Oh nooooooo, somebody is banning me from viewing this! "This video contains content from Sony Music Entertainment. It is not available in your country." sniff sniff...
That was so enjoyable. It felt like it was only one minute long! Such a beautiful place to go on vacation, and you captured it beautifully with the stills and video. I loved it all, but the one thing that will stick in my head is the dog coming back to the water to pick up the sticks, one at a time. Such a big helper!! He/she was probably so proud! :)
@petersonsheri Hi sheri! That's our old man dog Tenaya, at almost 11, he's still like a puppy in some ways. He is absolutely addicted to stick fetching, especially in streams. He will actually try to clear streams of any sticks, oftentimes log sized (!), if we don't keep him busy with the small stuff. It's hilarious to watch, as he will stick his head completely under the water and work for hours sometimes trying to dislodge huge 'trees.'
@laceyjogautreau Hey there miss Lacey! So glad you enjoyed it. Isn't that a hoot of Jenn and Tenaya asleep? And his morning kisses! Just too precious. I love them both to pieces. :-) Those horses are amazing, one of the larges groups of wild horses we have in California. It took us about an hour to get that close, moving our tripods ever so slowly, and it was thrilling!
This is terrific! Looks like you had such a fun trip!! I love the eastern sierra's, it is such a wonderful place! Okay, back to looking for you owl video. LOL
