The 17 year-old girl that was riding in this car died back in 2007 when the car was hit head-on by a SUV driven by a 16 year-old who had been drinking and smoking pot. The wreck is on display in front of one of our high schools in the district as part of a program aimed at teaching teens about the consequences of their choices behind the wheel.
I am too familiar with this scene, seems like a continual problem but I hope it gets into their brains. "Imagine a plane full of people crashing, killing everyone on board, every single day.
“Motor vehicle crashes in the United States result in more than 40,000 deaths per year,” says the Institute in the journal Injury Prevention. “That is, on each of the 6,209 consecutive days included in this study, an equivalent of a plane load or more of people died on the roads.”

this makes me think of a very disturbing image that made the rounds a few years ago to warn teens of the dangers of texting and driving... it was extremely graphic.
@ronphotos365@debbim - Yeah... I guess I'm having a week of messages... maybe tomorrow will be more fun! @gr8dane - dunno... she had to serve time, but she might be out by now @myautofocuslife@hettie - Yup. The wreck was right up the hill from where we live -- very close to our son's high school... scary. @twinsplusone - Your girls seem so great I'm sure they would never be riding with people who had been drinking... or riding around late at night... @pammerritt@summitnsmile@gark@orangecrush@jsw0109 - Yes. Powerful message indeed. Our karate instructor (back in 2007) was really good friends with the girl who died. The accident happened right up the hill from us. Very sad for the community... BUT, texting and driving is just as bad as drinking and driving. C'mon people!!!
