5-3-11 Beautiful moth.

Saw this moth outside the pediatrician's office. Poor thing was badly injured. I tried to move it onto some grass but it kept flopping off onto the sidewalk.

Thank you everyone! @angievega @lislee75 It was very soft and sadly it was dying. It had a damaged wing, broken leg and a crushed eye.

The marks on their wings make them look like they are looking at you, don't they? Beautiful colors. Good catch.

That is a cecropia moth! very rare! I always hunted them when I was in 4-H collecting bugs. I love this! I am so sorry it was injured!

Thank you everyone for the nice comments! @eringoodman I was wondering what type of moth it was Erin. It was about 7" from wing tip to wing tip. So pretty! I added another shot of it to my Facebook.

I thought there was a moth on my computer screeen! I am so sad it was injured. That always makes me sad about butterflies, moths, and earthworms too. Beautiful crisp photo.
