This photo has a bit of a story attached! It's kind of in two parts.
First, "First Goslings" are kind of a thing between Christopher and me. If we're not together when one of us spots the first goslings of the year, we always go back together to see them. This year he was about an hour from home when he spotted First Goslings, but when we returned together they were nowhere to be found. So these little guys are only kind of First Goslings, but as they're the first ones we saw together, they've been given the title.
Second... My mum passed away when I was pretty little. One of the stories about her that I heard a million times while growing up is that while she was pregnant with me-- my parents' third child and only daughter-- she had a favourite sweatshirt that she wore a lot. It had a cartoony picture of mother duck/goose walking along with two babies facing the same way as her, and then a third one, wearing a bow on its head, a little separated from the other two and looking straight at the "camera." When going through today's photos I showed this one to my dad and said "Obviously it's not exactly the same, but does this remind you of anything?" and it gave him quite a nice laugh. I had to explain to Christopher why it was funny, but after that he thought this had to be my photo for today.
