We have a HUGE monkey puzzle tree in our neighborhood. Just found out that it is a female tree based on the cones. Very impressive tree, considered a living fossil. The monkey's puzzle, I think, is how to get the nuts out, with such prickly needles!
@joanf@calm Thanks! I just noticed today that the outer part of the cone actually gets shed and the core pine nut is exposed. It will still be tricky to pick it with all the prickly needles.
