Not quite the vision I had in my head, but I think it came out all right. :)
My AP Physics homework is due bright and early tomorrow, and I've been staring at problem #14 all week trying to work out how to solve it. At long last, inspiration struck today! It took up half a page in my notebook, and here's the result. (My final answer, for the curious, is that the acceleration of the system is about 4.017 meters per second squared.)
