The annual, traditional Liam labour walk

18 years ago I was expecting baby #4. We went for a walk to pick sloes and blackberries and it worked as I went into labour that afternoon and he was born early the following morning. Every year since we have replicated the walk on the Sunday before his birthday. It's especially celebratory today as he has been offered an apprenticeship as a chemistry trainee which lasts for 3 years and then, as well as being paid, he will be awarded a chemistry degree. We're thrilled as he gained an A*, A and two Bs in his A levels and unfortunately wasn't accepted into the university he'd applied to. Never mind, we're very proud of him and it obviously happened for a reason as this option is so much more preferable. Being paid for on the job training and ending up with a debt free degree, perfect :o) Liam is the second blurry blob in this line up. In my alternative album there's a shot of my daughter picking blackberries

I am also one who believes there is a reason for everything! A lovely tradition to follow but what won't be able to be done for ever!

Happy Birthday Liam. Brilliant news about his job, when he gets his degree he will have 3 years work experience which will be a nice advantage over other people his age who have just finished a degree.
