NIce one Wylie.
Looks like we will be having a change of plans re Alice Springs in June Wylie and will not be there for the desert race. What a bummer :-(

Absolutely love this, just so Australian, couldn't be anywhere else! We are busy planning a three month 4 x 4 trip round Australia next year and this sort of photo just makes me want this year to go faster!

What a very baron land, but there is a beauty in it at the same time. Love the single tree standing so defiantly against everything

@terryliv oh that's a disappointment Terry, the boys have just been accepted into the race too! Getting excited!

@judithdeacon that sounds like a great plan, I hope you have a ball. Where will you start?
@shirleybankfarm thanks Shirley, there were lots of trees like this and they were all fantastic.

@pusspup Still in the planning stages but basically we will set off from Perth and go north on the N1 and keep going till we get back to Perth taking as long as it takes - retirement is bliss!

I thought the same as Sally. I love the simplicity of this shot too. Beautiful composition.

so brown and dry everywhere at the moment...well captured...

The scene is so different from where I live which is green, wet & cold. I like the minimal composition with the tree as the main feature. I would like to see it without the clouds which would perhaps make it even more minimal. For me the clouds are a distraction. Thats just me.

Love it, Wylie. Can smell the heat and arid atmosphere from here.

Very stark indeed but instantly recognisable as Australia.

I like this shot a lot Wylie. The contrasting colours of our wonderful country is something that I never tire of.

Simple and effective.

Wonderful composition!

Not familiar with the literary work, but the title does seem to describe the image well. Arid, brown and empty, except for the one tree and large sky.

Cool landscape.

I can't resist lone trees and this is a beaut

@paulmann thanks for the input. It was a big day for great clouds. Maybe next time I can try without clouds!
