We `ve been this weekend to the North-eastern part of our country and visit my wife`s birth town Delfzijl and her family.
I drove the route I market and did take lots of pic.`s there I share next couple of day`s . As there are two big new polders the country looks are very much the same we live now although there are also much differences . Drove 850 km/530 miles
Sounds like a wonderful trip. I look forward to seeing your photos. I imagine the two of you had a really nice time. Interesting to see your route on a map like this. Along the coast?
you must have had a lovely time. When you say new polders do you mean that these have only just been created. That is interesting. Look forward to your pics
@randystreat@sailingmusic@bruni@stiggle . You kidding ? 530 miles on a bike. ? When I was young , no problem but now it`s much to far. It takes about 4 hours by car to get there. The map shows the area I`ve take pic.s of when I stay by family. Spent a afternoon on it.
@cruiser There are two polders (reclaimd land) From the water named : de Dollard, on the pic.
The Johanus Kerkhovenpolder , founded between 1875 -1883 The area is 1.200 ha = 2965 ac.
The Carel Coenraad polder . Founded in 1924 . This area is 1500 ha = 3706 ac.
Quite a long distance to drive. How long did it take you? Lovely capture of the map with the markings. My son and son-in-law use the electronic GPS which is very handy for getting directions. I don't know how to use that though.
@pyrrhula very interesting, thank you. I am pleased to have visited Holland, even if only very briefly. Its not at all how I imagined from my childhood story books :)
