A little old farmhouse up against the dike

This is a very common place to build the houses, for sure in the past. Often there is a side road/ exit from the dike road to the entrance.
Cute, but not much sun?

Really gives perspective to how high a dike is. I see houses low like this against the road sometimes when we ride through the mountains.

This picture really shows how far below sea level you really are! I know the yogart ice cream is supposed to be more healthy for you, but I am a die-hard fan of the original form. Thankfully we can all have what we like!

I take it the house is on the dry side of the dyke. The way it is built it is well sheltered from the wind and cold. Beautiful capture and I like the curving road.

Great shot! I'd worry that the house would end up under water too!

@777margo @alia_801 It was. Back in 1953 with the big flood.

that is cute, the roof is as high as the road! I see that this was for shelter of the wind, what about the rain

@ninaganci The (pottery) roof tiles take care of this. And the system of sewer/draining , ditches, canals and pumping stations.
