Pollard Willows trimmed by pyrrhula

Pollard Willows trimmed

A need every 3-4 years.
The tower is and (old) water tower.
The pruned trees look neat. Often in town there is a need to leave them tall, and then before the new growth comes, they look deformed to me!

@speedwell This is an old acient use of willows for our country.. We used the branches for several purposes. Even build our country dikes with it. Now they have become an icone in the landscape. .

A lovely curve of the land from a good pov with the old water tower guiding you to look to the distance , such a neat way to keep the trees under control

Look at all the lovely branches! Will they be used to any purpose? I know the trees will grow back stronger to the pruning!

Een uitstervend beroep. Je ziet ze soms staan met veel te hoge takken. Mooie foto

I am always amazed by how drastically these trees can be pruned and how much they fill out after the new growth comes in. Nice shot!

Thanks for the reply...I knew there had to be a good use for them, and certainly to build a support for the dykes is about the best use imaginable!!!
