All in the duties of a dog owner.....

Jinks' new lampshade collar does not allow him to lick his paw & has a nice padded outer edge, but it also does not allow him to eat.
24 pieces of dog meal for breakfast later....... (He can manage a drink of water OK.)
Always a sorry sight, but isn't it amazing how patient they are, most of the time? They must be aware that it's for their own good - but I'm not so sure I'd accept it as easily.

Shame I do feel sorry for him.

Our Welsh Border collie found that there was a great advantage to a collar. She could put it over an animal, insect, bird and look at it, for as long as she liked!

@wordpixman @carwyn3 @w3n6y Thanks for looking and commenting. I don't think Jinks has found any advantages to wearing a collar. Neither, I'm sorry to say, is he at all patient, or grateful. It's quite hard to e.g., put cream on a dog's bad paw, while he just growls crossly at you. I do love him really, and feel sorry for him!!

Poor doggy!

You are making me chuckle again - and I know I shouldn't . . .

@tishpics It's OK to chuckle. We have progress! I've discovered Jinks can eat his food by himself if I just put it, not in a bowl, but on the hearth as it's raised up just the right height for use with lampshade collars!

Oh bless!! I was going to say you need a bowl on a stand. AT least you've remembered - when Adam was two he had a bone infection in hid wrist and while in hospital he had a drip in the other arm. We sat and looked at each other for a while over the hospital table before I realised he couldn't use either arm to eat and was feeling too ropey to tell me!! I think I was hoping that he wouldn't want his turkey dinosaurs and potato smileys as I was starving but couldn't leave him to go and get food. After a week of the same food we were all feeling like dinosaurs!!

@judithg Getting food from hand to mouth can often be tricky in hospital...... On the doggy front, I found tonight that Jinks had not so much success with the white fish and rice meal as it's smaller pieces than the duck and rice. He stood there, looked at the meal and then helplessly at me!

@quietpurplehaze Oh that's good!

Sorry Jinks I had to laugh at this! Hazel he may get used to being hand fed and actually like it :-) Olivia found a way of bending her collar so she could eat and drink. Nothing keeps her from food "lol"

@creativeamateur Funny you should say that as I found a way to let him eat by himself (see above) but he soon went back to standing helplessly looking at the food and at me!

Ah, just saw that. Yes if you raise the bowl they find it a lot easier.
