I offer this shot for today's word as a lady standing close to me near this lavender border described the myriad bees and butterflies flying around the plants as a 'sparkle'. Her photographer husband kindly identified this butterfly for me.
Very pretty Hazel -- the cabbage white come to my garden -looks similar to this but I can not be sure they are the same --They do flutter by so fast ,don't they !! this looks really good against the lavender blue !
Thank you for your comments. This is my favourite of the butterfly shots I captured on that day and I prefer it to the peacock butterfly which got on the PP with all the favs.
Hi Hazel, Patricia Fletcher said you might be able to help me with identifying a flower in my garden. Would you mind having a look at http://365project.org/shepherdmanswife and let me know what you think it is? Would appreciate it. It seems to self seed under our plum tree so is probably a woodland type flower. It starts off looking flat like a daisy but then the middle bulges out and the petals retreat backwards. Its about 30 cm high. Love your butterfly on lavender!
Yay, someone who knows the names of the butterflies! I saw one last week at my brother's butterfly bush and all I could say is "Look, such a pretty butterfly or moth--don't know which!" I love when I learn on here. The lavender and the muted yellow really are lovely--great catch.
