This is so cute. Since you are posting it for the 5th day of December, I'll guess Five Golden Rings? His glasses look like rings. Or if it it's the 3rd day of Christmas, maybe it's a Calling Bird. Actually, Hazel, I have no idea. LOL
The 4th day. The original version of the song has, "four colly birds." And a colly bird is a blackbird. You have the visual pun of a "college bird." Fun shot!
Mary you are too clever. This was meant to keep everybody guessing - for ages! I only learnt about this yesterday on a visit to a country house where 12 rooms were decked out each for a day of the 12 days. @mittens
@quietpurplehaze I'm sorry. I can delete my response. I knew the answer because in high school, a music teacher taught us the symbolism of each of the days. And I remember the class laughing because we thought he said, "college bird."
No problem. Interesting what prompts us to remember what we do.
In our version of the song it's 4 calling birds which I guess evolved from colly birds.
Just got a new brain wrinkle on this one. LOL I never knew this. I always thought it was 4 calling birds. This is wonderful! Love your black bird! Very cute and so clever.
I would never have guessed in a million years, although with only twelve options it shouldn't actually take that long! Sounds like a really interesting idea, I would love to see those rooms.
They are at Hinton Ampner in Hampshire but only open until Sunday (8th). Beautifully done and I have a couple more to show. A lady in the photographic group had been and told us about it so I'm grateful to her.

I'm just going to have to find out if calling birds evolved from colly birds or colly birds evolved from calling birds!
p.s. not my artwork but found in a national trust house Christmas display!
