I saw these artichokes on an allotment when having a local walk with Jinks. Liked their shapes and the fringes of flower. I googled** them and found that when the flowers get to the full stage, the vegetable is past its best for eating.

** prestigious to have your name converted to a verb!!

these look a lot like a weed that grows here. Except our ones are spiky and can survive a bush fire. They are not a very nice plant.

A super capture of this great shaped vegetable I didnt realise they were eaten before flowering. Very tasty with butter but don't eat the choke
