No significance, just me playing with word, sorry, Babs! The Chinese lanterns (seed pods of an insignificant white flower) were part of a floral display for harvest festival. The Norman church is the centre of the Hospital of St Cross which is a charitable almshouse.
Wonderful shot. I love the lanterns (have personally struggled to find a way to photograph then gracefully -- you did it!) and really like the context of the church. The whole idea of the Almshouse is so interesting to me (appreciate many things about it, including the name), and I remember first finding you on the 365 project with similar photos.
Cathie, thank you for your graceful comments. I was only thinking when I posted this that this type of shot is one I really like finding. I think we all have our particular 'signature shot'?!
You're welcome & thankyou. Think this is my favourite of our visit to St Cross. (I've decided to go to Winchester tomorrow for a 'consultation' in London Camera Exchange as both my birthday and Christmas are not so far away.)
Hazel visa terrific I just love these Chinese lanterns. Remind me so much of my childhood. Thank you so much for your comments on my overloading comment post. I will definitely give your eye deer a great deal of thought.
How nice you`ve met Tina and Ivan. I did have that pleasure last year and have nice/great memories of it .
