sunshine

Dandelion flowers open to greet the morning and close in the evening to go to sleep.

Every part of the dandelion is useful: root, leaves, flower and it can be used for food, for medicine and as dye for coloring.

Origin of the name is from the French “dent de lion” meaning lion’s tooth, referring to the coarsely-toothed leaves.

Really nice to see my yesterday's purple violets made a fleeting visit to PP!

Lovely capture they really are quite pretty shame they are a nuisance in the lawn but they do reward us with their fluffy seed heads.

Why has this beautiful wild flower become a weed and a nuisance in my garden --over the last few days I have been discovering it blooming around my pond ,and it is so difficult to eradicate from among the rockery plants !! aagh !!!

The war begin. How I get lost of the to many of them ? a few I like but like the Dutch saying. ~` geef hem een vinger en hij neemt je hele hand `` = give it a finger and it takes you whole hand . you garden soon is full of them.

@pyrrhula

Ah yes - In English - give them an inch and they take a yard!
April 23rd, 2015

@olivetreeann

Oh I haven't tried that - my grandma used to make dandelion wine!

@quietpurplehaze I read that a combination of dandelion tea, lemon juice and unsweetened cranberry juice is good for the thyroid and helps in weight loss- something that is harder and harder for me to do as my arthritis gets worse and worse.

@olivetreeann

Interesting. I could do with weight loss but raw lemon juice plays havoc with my 'innards' - could use lime juice perhaps.
Sorry for the arthritis, Ann.
