I went to Sylv's hoping for a shot of the robins nesting on her back wall. When I arrived she told me she had now realised there was also a blackbirds' nest in the same creeper.
This was soon evident when this fledgling flew/fell down on to the deck outside the conservatory where we were having coffee. I got a quick shot through the glass before it hopped off to another part of the garden, beak still open for food.
I wonder if it will survive as the parent birds seemed oblivious to it and carried on ferrying worms etc to the nest.
Great detail and focus Hazel you have captured the dramatic scene well, hope the little fellow survived the rough landing and was soon back in the air again:)
What a lovely shot of this dear little blackbird - Fav When they get hot, they tend to lay down on the ground with their wings open like this as if they are sunbathing. We've had several blackbirds young and old doing this in our garden
You wouldn't think this was a blackbird would you, he looks nothing like an adult bird! He looks as though he's not far off flying so hopefully will be OK.
Interesting - thank you.
That tends to be my thinking too. It was also a very hot day.
