I mentioned in the story with my portrait No. 87 of Maddy and Milly that Colin stopped to say hello while I was talking to them in Winchester High Street. I told him about my strangers' project and showed him on the camera screen the shots which I had just taken of Maddy and Milly.
Colin had a very friendly air so I asked him almost immediately if I could also take his portrait. He was very happy with the idea and I selected a wide open aperture in order to blur the people passing by in the background rather than ask him to move from where he was talking to the three of us.
I asked Colin how he knew Maddy and Milly and he said he met them when they were busking on a previous occasion and had made a video of them for a little publicity on Facebook and YouTube.
Colin hails originally from Liverpool and is a musician. He has written over 400 songs. I asked how he would describe his style and he replied 'Beatle-esque'. He has recorded 6 albums: Howard from 'Take That' features on track 14/20 of an album which Colin recorded with his main band, 'Salt of the Earth'. His latest album is called 'Pearls'.
He worked for 25 years for Barclays Bank, is now retired and got married in October to Millicent who is from Ghana. He also loves photography.
I promised to send a photo and the link to my 365 entry about Colin.
A small edit on this photo in FastStone.
Colin's website does far more justice to his musical talent and wealth of experience than I could do: http://colinkennaugh.com/
Thank you - such a good subject!
Peter, thank you, what a wonderful comment, appreciated!
Bep, thank you! Strange thing is that on the whole I'm a bit of a small-scale recluse!
