At the open day of Twyford Waterworks, I met Dale in his uniform as Private James Frazer of the TV series Dad's Army. He was just about to lead a party on a guided tour of the original part of the waterworks so I only had time for a couple of photos.
Dale quickly gave me his card from which I noted that he also takes on the character of Lieutenant D.H.Johnson for some events.
I hoped to catch up with him later in the day but unfortunately this did not happen. However I was lucky enough to see his Austin 7 parked near the entrance as we left to go home.
In the rear window, Dale had put a typed noticed giving his autobiographical details plus information about his interests so I took a photo of it for reference.
He bought his Austin 7, called Autogophasta (think about it) in 2009. It was turned out on this day as Platoon Transport in keeping with his role as Private Frazer.
Dale himself was one of the youngest and last National Servicemen. He is now a volunteer warden, tour guide and lecturer with the National Tank Museum at Bovington. He gives lectures on subjects such as 'Surviving the Blitz in WW2', and 'The Home Guard'.
The original Autogophasta was a British Mark IV tank which saw action in 1917 on the Western Front.
Dale does not have email so I am sending him a photo in the post. (This is the first time that I have inadvertently included a selfie in a portrait.)
A great portrait, it really captures Dale and nice that you are sending him a copy, lovely for him and his family to keep. I reckon you could probably clone yourself out of the image without too much difficulty and could you tone down the oblong of bright light? A lovely clear shot :-)
Thanks for your comments. I think I am a too large area to clone given that it would just be a dark colour. I've found that smaller and mottled areas are easier to clone.. The oblong of light (plus the smaller circle) could have been do-able - point for future ref - thanks for your interest!
Thank you for your comments. I did also wonder - but I didn't like not seeing the khaki - also the purple I am wearing!!!!

I'll need to meet him again to find out!
Thank you x. Could be a bit painful!
Lin, fame at last!!! Thank you!

Excellent Frazer pic and a little Haze selfie slipping in the reflection :)
Oh yes, I'd forgotten that ditty! Yes, thanks, not a bad pic for a quick one-off!!
