(These are my complimentary copies I've just received in the post to send out - I'm not about to read it again four more times over!)

I want to say a huge public thank you to Ian Douglas who has so generously undertaken this publishing task.

My dad tried to have his diaries published in 1955; I tried in 2000; I had no idea that one day the time would be right.

This coming week, Wednesday June 21st, sees the 75th anniversary of the fall of Tobruk where my dad was captured along with 30,000 or so men.
