Oh dear Hazel, poor Jinks! You will miss him so much as we will too. Just saying to Harry, all these 365 dogs Alfie, Finley, Jinks etc are all stalwarts of the 365 community.
He had a great life so no looking back sadly, just happy memories! Yes the escapee, his finest hour!
Oh I am so sorry for the loss of Jinks will miss him here on 365. I have enjoyed seeing the lovely photos of him over the years and his little quirks.Thinking of you and Ray in your sadness.
I am so sorry Hazel..........I know how sad you and Ray must be. Such a big hole is left. He brought you (and us) such happy and delightful memories, we will all miss him. My thoughts are with you and Ray at this sad time.
Oh Hazel I am so sad to read this! I loved to see your pics of Jinks and hear about him. A long life indeed and he was much loved by you and Ray! So many happy memories you will have! Big hug xxx
Oh Hazel, I am so sorry. You must be devastated. We have all got to know Jinks so well on 365 and he will be missed by everyone.
I do hope you will be able to take lots of time to focus on yourself and your wellbeing. It takes a while to get all your emotions in the right boxes. Take care. xxx
Oh Hazel, bless you. Always sad to say goodbye to a much loved pet, so much a member of the family. Lovely that you can be so positive about it. Amazing age. Farewell Jinks, thanks for sharing your lovely face and personality with us.
Thank you so much everybody for all your lovely and supportive comments, and your appreciation of Jinks. He came to live with us 14 years ago when I came out of hospital 4 months after being admitted with a bipolar episode. His 'brief', if you like, was to help me back to full health and normality and hopefully to keep me well. He has done both. He taught me to forward plan and to try to be one step ahead of his little (only in size) doggy brain. I've just done a count of his escapes and got up as far as 8, the worst being when he was out all night and not found until 6 a.m. the next morning by a lady giving her husband a lift to work. He did respond quite well to dog training and a lady we met out walking, herself a breeder of Cairns, told us that she thought he was well trained - for a Cairn. He was my dog but the funny thing was that when he wanted a cuddle he always went to Ray - who freely admits that he is not wholeheartedly and in general a doggy person. I could bore you rigid with tales but I'll stop now and just say that he was a lovable rascal and your response to my 'goodby-to-Jinks' photo has touched me.
Having been off piste with hols etc., am catching up with Jinks. Have been where you are with Princesse, our rescue dog, to whom we had to say 'Farewell' with extreme emotion, gratitude and wonder at her gentleness and trust after so much maltreatment. I can hardly see what I'm typing for tears. My heart goes out to you both and all who shared his life.
Margo, thank you. Our dogs find their way into our hearts. Jinks could not attract adjectives such as gentleness like Princesse did. He was a feisty Cairn terrier, for which we loved him! They all have their unique character and personality. I am already looking at Cairn rescue sites but know I have to wait a while.
Oh I am so sorry for your loss Hazel, he was a very bright and cheeky little terrier. I am so sorry I missed your post, I hope time heals the pain a little and you remember the good times with a smile once more
Margaret, thank you so much for your kind words. I still keep expecting Jinks to be here, especially every time I come home. I am grateful we had him nearly 15 years.

You'll both know when the time is right.
Thanks for all your understanding. (Pathetic to even mention this but I do really know my parts of speech and parsing!!!)
