We met Brother Andrew in the cathedral precinct on his mobility scooter. He was my stranger no.14 https://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/365/2015-10-07 when he lived at St Cross. Now he has moved to a different almshouse in the city where he can access the nursing care which he needs.
He told us about his hip operation last October and was full of praise for the NHS (well apart from one member of the team who made him feel treated like a child....)
I had to admire his beautiful orange scarf.
He told us about a recent visit to his parents who live in Kent. Because of the railway timetable it took him all day to travel there, have lunch and travel back.
His parents are both 97. He said, 'They won't be here for ever'.
Ooh Hazel -- you have excelled yourself with this portrait -- You have captured this beautiful ,kind face , and the glint in his eyes , so well . Love the colour combination of his grey coat and orange scarf ,with the 2 colours echoed in his surroundings . Beautifully presented Hazel -- fav
Wonderful portrait Hazel! The orange scarf is in keeping with your recent posts. I had to smile to hear his parents are both still alive yet Brother Andrew has had to move to another almshouse to access medical care! Hope he's fitter than he sounds, he looks well!
