The quotes are arranged around the outside curves of William Pye's font in Salisbury Cathedral.
The water in the font reflects different parts of the interior of the building according to where you stand with your camera.
Although I do not profess to be religious, I am always drawn to ecclesiastical architecture and in addition would wish some peace to the people of the city of Salisbury and others involved in the events currently unfolding there.
This is a most interesting image Hazel. I love your POV. Like you, I'm not religious but love to see the inside of these old churches and cathedrals. There is some amazing architecture within.
the way you photographed this font, it always make me look so close as it throws me off every time, thinking it's a collage. your perspectives are really interesting. beautiful shot, hazel. aces!
Hazel, this is exceptional! The last time I visited Salisbury Cathedral was was almost 20 years ago, if not more. I have no memory of this font and your POV enhances it artfully. I went alone as R was away and I very much wanted to go out on the roof in spite of being terrified. I did as I'd promised myself...yet I was never more grateful to be inside on terra firma. I haven't done any roof walking since! Interestingly, I was diagnosed by my ENT specialist as a vertigo case about 4 years ago!
I love the way you use reflection to such good cause, I remember another recent one with incredible reflection such as this one. It takes a while to work it out! You are drawn to ecclesiastical images but you do them so well & you do have rather special holy places.
They chose a beautiful place for an evil deed!
It is large enough for total immersion baptism and I take your point!
Oh thank you - I am always looking for the best shot on every visit here but I think it is not to be found!
You were brave, Margo to go on the roof. The font dates only from 2008.
They chose a beautiful place for an evil deed!
A good photo of the whole font here: https://www.salisburycathedral.org.uk/visit-what-see/cathedral-font
