a September chrysanthemum by quietpurplehaze

a September chrysanthemum

I always think of these flowers as an autumn flower so here's one to start my participation in the challenge by @vignouse for September https://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/31977/nf-sooc-september-2018

My dad brought us a bunch down all the way from his garden in Suffolk the last time he visited us - pink ones, if I remember correctly.
The yellow is so lovely and delicate. Great composition.

Lovely shot. I started this challenge today too. Also I started an attempt at learning how to take monochrome portraits.......any tips on portraits you can give me would be gratefully received! You are super at them.

@casablanca

Well, thank you but probably I've learnt by trial and error! Backgrounds are always a problem out and about, especially lights in pubs and strong sunlight outside. Important to put the subject at ease; the first shot I take is often the best before any smile becomes fixed; set up the camera before asking; mono portraits need more variety in tones than colour. Ask me anything and I'll reply - if I can!

Delighted to see yellow flowers in Summer. There are so many, almost exclusively in early Spring, that I find myself looking forward to another colour. Purple irises spring to mind.
